The brand was developed by the H. Upmann Factory and was introduced in the market in 1935. The Montecristo brand first consisted of only five sizes identified by numbers instead of names. In the early 70s the other sizes were added to the line. Two decades the Montecristo brand was dominated among Habanos as one of the most preferred brands of the smokers because of its distinctive flavor. In our days Montecristo is still the best known and probably the most appreciated Habanos brand. The distinctive medium to full flavor forms the benchmark for many Habanos smokers against which other brands are judged. The flavor of Montecristo gives delight to smokers.
